Hey Buyer
If you ever get bored in Pittsburgh, you can tour some of the local breweries. Here is a link to the best brewery tours in Western PA
http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/top-lists/best-brewery-tours-in-western-pennsylvania/
I took the Franconia Brewery tour today. If you are in the DFW area on a Saturday morning, it is the best $5 you will ever spend. The tour is between 1-1 1/2 hours. The doors open at 11 am, you pay the tour fee and then the magic happens. You have the options of bringing your own mug/glass/stein, purchase a souvenir glass, or use the complementary cups. Any one of the options leaves you a winner. You get your first sample of your choice of 4 beers on tap as you gather at the start of the tour. After the tour is over, you are welcome to stay and sample as much beer as you can responsibly handle. It is great talking with the staff and other beer lovers. The only thing that would make it even better would be a food cart selling brats and German potato salad. Great job Franconia !!!
Just an added note. The beer on tap at Franconia today were: Dunkel, Amber, Crystal Weiss and a Lager. Franconia’s brews Ales and Lagers utilizing only Barley Malts, Water, Hops and Yeast in the spirit of the German Brewing Purity Laws.
I enjoyed each of the 4 beers on tap, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Amber Ale. I recommend that you take the tour and decide do yourself. The Crystal Weiss is a seasonal that they let us hav a preview of. It is a solid refreshing wheat beer.
Bottom line, you won’t go wrong with any of them. Try them all and decide for yourself !!!
